The SwagRing Web Ring
Good morning,
I'm not sure if saying 'good morning' here is legal. As I'm writing this, it is 10:15 AM, and I'm "taking notes" on a notepad with a beautiful, smooth red pen. However, by the time I'll get this on the site, it might be as late as 12:30, or 1, or 10:00 PM, and so I'm not sure the contextual time references make sense. And what to do with the timestamp? Should it be 10:15, or when this post goes live in the site? You as the reader will know what I've settled on, which I've decided is not fair and I'm jealous of you.
It's been a while since I wrote last - I think it was October? There's a lot that's happened since then. I've become very good friends with a guy who works in my building, and then I was moved buildings, so I suppose that no longer holds true; I lost a good friend, who is moving north for work (but we're very happy for him); I played and fully completed Hollow Knight, which I found to be an absolutely fantastic game, and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys good video games; I have come into a bike, and started to bike around as a form of exercise; I was gifted a dashcam for Christmas, which I've still yet to install (lol); and finally, I've found myself stuck in a training class in order to get a certificate for my career. Hence this blog post. Something feels wrong grammatically about what I've done, making a list of items separated by semicolons and ending it with a conjunction, but it reads cool, so I don't care. You know what, it doesn't read cool. I'll change it.
My best friend Daeton has a new Web site, and you should check it out! He writes a lot more frequently than me, which I think is really cool and I want to start doing. We're part of the SwagRing web ring (beautiful name chosen by yours truly), along with my brother, who ALSO has a new site you can check out at the Purp Corner. I'll try and code some cute CSS for the web ring links and I'll keep them at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately for now, you get an ASCII arrow and some re-used CSS from the header. It's also only going to be on this page. I'll update the rest of the site later. Would be cool if I could dynamically create my site, huh?
This course is reminding me quite a bit of what it would be like to be back in high school. Not only does the material have a significant overlap with many of my college courses, but something about waking up early just to show up at 8 AM ready to learn just feels too much like the secondary education environment. All throughout high school, I kept getting this one teacher, Mrs. Wicker, because she was the Unofficial Official Computer Science Teacher, and I think I ended up taking like four or five various computer-related courses in my time at school. Anyways, her way of teaching was very... laid-back, to say the least, and we had a lot of free time in that class once we finished our daily work with which to do whatever we wanted. I would write my friends e-mails, calling them "Wicker E-mails" (for obvious reasons), and then Wicker E-mails just became a Thing I Would Write, long after I left her class. Even letters I wrote in paper. A Wicker E-mail is not necessarily written in Wicker's class, and it's not even necessarily an e-mail, it's just a particular style of writing. For example, I'm writing one right now. Isn't that cool?
The time is now 11:53 and it looks like people are starting to get back from lunch. Looks like this is all I've time for now. Hope you enjoyed the read and I'll try and stay on writing.
